Apple gives Studio Display the unknown iOS 16.4 beta 2
After this week’s developer and public builds of the second iOS 16.4 beta, Apple’s Studio Display now has the latest firmware beta update.
The Studio Display’s beta firmware update is over 600 MB in size. As we’ve seen with previous beta updates for the monitor, Apple doesn’t give any release notes or hints about what’s changed or been improved (like the company does with AirPods updates).
This question will likely be answered when Apple releases iOS 16.4 to the public with more detailed release notes.
If you’re running the beta on a Mac connected to the Studio Display, go to System Settings > General > Software Update to see if the update is available (it may also top to the top of your sidebar).
The A13 Bionic chip is what runs Apple’s Studio Display. It was first used in the iPhone 11 in 2019. Apple has put out three firmware updates for Studio Display so far. One update has two builds.
